Dan M. Berkovitz has extensive experience in financial and commodity markets. From 2021 to 2023, Mr. Berkovitz served as General Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. From 2018 to 2021, Mr. Berkovitz was a Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Previously, from 2009-2013, Mr. Berkovitz served as the CFTC’s General Counsel, where he played a key role in the development and implementation of the Dodd-Frank legislation.
Mr. Berkovitz also has been a partner and co-chair of the futures and derivatives practice at the law firm of WilmerHale, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law School, and vice-chair of the American Bar Association Committee on Futures and Derivatives.
Mr. Berkovitz obtained an A.B. in Physics from Princeton University and a J.D. from UC Law, San Francisco (Hastings College of Law).
