Melissa is currently the Global Head of Bitcoin Policy at Block. From 2019-2021, Melissa was the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Chief Innovation Officer and Director of LabCFTC and worked to promote responsible innovation, particularly around digital assets. Melissa’s private sector work experience includes Intuit, focusing on global technology, cybersecurity, and fintech policy, the Financial Services Roundtable, shaping the Dodd-Frank Act, and the McGraw-Hill Companies, working on the Credit Rating Reform Act of 2006. Melissa began her career at the US Department of Treasury as a Presidential Management Intern (Presidential Management Fellow) in the Office of Domestic Finance and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Here, she worked on terrorism risk insurance, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, and financial privacy notices. Melissa received a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and a B.S.B.A. from Villanova University.
